A Land Control Board Consent Letter is an official approval issued by the land control board authorizing a controlled land transaction.
The Land Control Board is a Government Body established under the Land Control Act to regulate transactions involving agricultural land.
There are two types of consents,
- Consent to Charge Land
This consent is issued to allow the land owner to use the property as a security or collateral for a loan. This means the owner borrows loan and offers land as a collateral, if he or she is unable to pay, the lender may exercise its legal rights over the property.
- Consent to Sale
This is where the owner of the land seeks consent to allow change of ownership.
The consent is a must document before the land is transferred to new owner(s).
It helps to prevent illegal transfers, since consent is required before registering of agricultural land transactions.
Consent is paid by the seller or owner of the land during transfer transactions, and the Land Control Board (LCB) meets once a month.
